Sometimes you have someone in the studio who thinks they don’t ‘stick in pictures’. It’s a photographers term really, but what it means is that they think they can’t look nice in a photograph. Last night I had Marjolein who asked before whether she could have a look around in my new studio if she was in the neighborhood. My answer, as always, was ‘of course’, as I always love sharing what I do with others.
So when I was shooting with Nadine (pictures will follow tomorrow) she helped us out, thought of some good ideas and we had fun altogether. But when I finished my shoot with Nadine, I told Marjolein to sit down in front of the light I had setup and pose for a picture.
She started to giggle and laugh and told me again she wouldn’t be good in a photograph. I told her that I thought otherwise and joked around a bit. Within maybe three minutes I had shot the portrait you see on the right. It’s hardly post processed and I think resembles her as a person pretty well.
So, after finishing the shot I sent her the image on Whatsapp (this morning) and basically she had to recall her ‘I don’t stick’ statement for she loves the shot.
Those are the moments I really love doing what I do. The moments that make my work as a photographer special. Seeing beauty in things, especially in people, when others don’t seem to see it. It makes me happy, being able to show people like Marjolein they can look pretty in a picture and with shooting these images, people like Marjolein in this case make my day! Probably without them realising this, so with this update, thank you and all you beautiful people that let me shoot you!
Because my model dropped out pretty last-minute Debbie decided to come by and fill in. We both had a long week allready and just headed off to do some light work. For a quick shoot in the studio, we had a good time chatting and this is what we ended up shooting (among other things).
I’ve known plus size model Miranda for quite some time and we’ve done some wonderful work before. This time she came to the studio to try some other stuff and considering her profile was mainly pretty dark, we decided on some high key work. This is what we did together…
Shooting with Josefien, aka Necia Navine we ended up shooting something resembling upper class porn in high key, or something like it. I just like working with her and playing around. I guess we did a pretty good job…
I’m no so much of a nature/landscape photographer I think, but sometimes I just have to think outside my own box and go with the flow. Thanks to a meetup I went to the Japanese Gardens in Clingendael, the Hague and I thought it was inspiring and beautiful. Surely have to come back here next autumn with a model (only open for two weeks, so that requires some planning, especially for the simple fact that it’s really busy) next year. But hey, for now I’ve got these quick photo’s to remember the beauty by…
The sweet 18 year old Justine came to the studio upon my Facebook request to shoot with someone. We had a great time and I surely hope to shoot with her again soon! Here’s some results of our fun and laughter.
The wonderful Stephanie came to the studio last night, for a little fun. These are some of the results.
I’ve known Nadine for a few years now and no matter how fucked up I feel, I still manage to get great images shooting with her.
This time, it was my back which is pretty much killing me. But having Nadine come over, I can’t just cancel, knowing how I always manage to get great pictures, so I ended up biting through the pain and shooting some stuff tonight. And well, I haven’t been disappointed, because, as always, we end up shooting awesome stuff. For now I’m sharing a few, but I’ll most likely end up sharing more in the nearby future…
Last July my love and I went on a trip to Italy. It was so nice to finally have a real holiday again after 8 years and of course I had to drag my camera along. It was such great fun to finally get out there again, see stuff, enjoy the sun and most of all, enjoy it all with my lovely Humberto. He’s been everything I could ask for and I’m kind of thinking that we just might be the best thing ever to each other. But without further ado, I wanted to share some pictures of Venice with you all, so here they are…
The lovely Roxan came by for a test shoot in my new studio. She arrived on my request and we decided to just play around and see what we could establish photography wise. We took some gambles, tried some new stuff and most of all we had a great time and I wanted to share a few pictures with you.
I’m quite sure we’ll see this lovely lady again in the future.
