Some pictures I shot at Castlefest Winter edition on Sunday.
This year, with the band, we were back at the Haarzuilens Elf Fantasy Fair. I brought along my camera and shot a few things, not much really as I didn’t feel like shooting so much, or mainly the post processing. So here’s just basically the few things I shot at this years EFF, next to the band gigs and a band shoot I will share later.
My lovely husband Humberto plays in a band, a Scottish folk rock band to be exact called the Sassenachs. He’s been playing there as long as I know him, well actually I know him thanks to the band. We met at the first festival he ever came along to, almost 6 years ago and we liked each other from the start, even though we didn’t manage to get together until years later. After the wedding of two of the band members to be exact.
So it’s fair to say, the band is a pretty big thing in our lives, it’s why we’re together and we sure owe the band for that.
Now this weekend, the band had a pretty big gig, in Bibelot (Dordrecht, their home town) on stage, taping their new live stage CD and DVD and it made sense that I was going to be there as a photographer. Here’s some of the pictures I took, both backstage and on stage.
Yesterday I was able to shoot something I really love doing. I was at the besiege of Teylingen. Medieval encampments and battles are so much fun to shoot and what I love about it is being able to show the rest of the world what those times looked like. Re-enactment is so much fun to do and even though I haven’t done it for quite some time, every time I set foot in one of these places, I love the smell of the campfires, the look of the clothes and the taste of the food, not to forget the awesome people that re-enactors are. Medieval times, these days, are just awesome!
So without further ado, I want to share a couple of yesterdays pictures…
It was a very long and tiresome week, but boy did I have fun. Hours were spend guiding people past the mailbox of the glass house and hours helping people registering cheques. It was the best of fun to sell ‘Lingoliebollen’ with Lucille Werner and JP, answering the phone in the church, in the little callcentre in there, to hear the stories of all those people giving money to hear a record played and that final moment in the double row with the DJ’s passing through to the stage with the grande finale. The crazy amount of over 12 million was gathered this year and I had to cry, right there and then in Enschede.
Hopefully I will be able to do the same thing again next year, for it was awesome and I hope to see Leeuwarden go all the way! But for now, I want to finish with just a few moments, a few pictures to show you guys my week of Serious Request!
At the Elf Fantasy Fair I took a little time to shoot Nikki Liem & Melchior ten Hoopen as wartime heroes. I thought it would be a shame not to share them.
As promised, some more pictures I took at this years Castlefest.
As my boyfriend is the lead guitarist of the Sassenachs, I travel with them from time to time when they visit festivals. I bring my camera as well and hey, when there, why not shoot some pictures, right? So this weekend they played the Celtic Festival in Hank. A festival they have played before and generally is a very nice one. As it’s almost the end of the festivalseason, it was nice to join them again and shoot some pictures. This time they were joined by the lovely ladies of the Deosil Scylla Tribe, a tribal bellydance group from Dordrecht. The results were lovely and I had a great time shooting a few pictures…
For the rest of the pictures, check the album on their Facebook page…
This year, of course I wouldn’t skip Castlefest. It’s my favorite festival of the year and I had tons of fun with everyone around, but when it comes to taking pictures, it’s one of the places I just loooove to shoot. Everyone dresses up, makes the most of it and gives me the chance to shoot them. So it would be a shame not to share some of the lovely shots I’ve taken at Castlefest. Now, it would be too much to just dump everything in one post, so I’ll spread it over a few, divided by theme. I hope you’ll all enjoy these…
More to follow!
My pictures of the sunday at Keltfest 2012.
A set of myof pictures of Keltfest’s saturday…
The last two days I’ve been at the Keltfest festival. The wonderful birds of prey of Birdlive were there as well, so I took the time to take some portraits of these beautiful animals. More pictures of the festival will follow!
Every year in the Netherlands, on the 4th of May we remember all who lost their lives for our freedom, from the second World War onwards. On the 5th of May, we celebrate that freedom with festivals all over the country. This year I was asked to take pictures of the festival in the Hague. So here’s a small selection of what I shot yesterday.
These pictures and a much wider range were publicized on Fok!
